Started by farmers and fishermen in 1933
Kitchen meetings were held across rural Nova Scotia discussing the need for a credit union to help empower individuals who had difficulty accessing credit. Community members would put funds on deposit to lend out to those who did not have access to capital. This kept funds in the community, helping it grow and prosper—a key credit union aim.
Celebrating our heritage
Watch the story of our first branch on its 85th anniversary It started with the recognition of an acute need for credit unions in Nova Scotia. After a lot of thought and work, a legislation was passed that would govern the creation and operations of all Nova Scotia credit unions. And that was just the start of the story.
